New Phishing Attempt Targets the Fed

It has come to the Alabama Automated Clearing House Association's (ALACHA) attention that a new email is circulating under the guise of being from the Federal Reserve and claiming that a wire transaction has failed. The email message appears legitimate as it uses a logo directly from the Fed's website.

“There has been no breach of Alabama Credit Union members’ account data,” said Alabama Credit Union President Steve Swofford. “’Phishing expeditions’ are easy to conduct by criminals and occur frequently. There is no need for members to be concerned about a release of confidential information by NACHA – that hasn’t occurred. This is just another attempt to gather information from unsuspecting consumers. If you receive one of these e-mails, simply delete it and do not respond to it.”
