Alabama Credit Union's annual membership meetings held
 |
Your credit union's annual owners meeting was where members/owners gathered to hear reports of the credit union's progress, confirm the nominated volunteers for service on the board of directors and supervisory committee, and enjoy visiting with each other. We're pleased that our 2005 membership meeting marked the credit union's 50th -- that's the start of our fiftieth year of member care! Here's a copy of our 2004 annual report titled "Fifty Years Of Member Care" that was distributed to the more than 250 attendees at our Tuscaloosa meeting on March 14, and the 50 members present at our Huntsville meeting on March 15. Members were treated to a trip down memory lane as retired President Jimmy Lankford recounted the credit union's meager beginnings in 1956 -- assets of $35, and seven members. At the Tuscaloosa meeting, Alabama Credit Union League President Gary B. Wolter discussed the important role credit unions play in meeting consumers' financial needs, the progress of Alabama Credit Union, and the challenges today's credit union members face in retaining their rights to participate in not-for-profit financial cooperatives.
Re-elected to three-year terms on the board of directors were Lynne S. April, Dr. William H. Darden, and Dr. Thomas L. Jones. New officers are Peter Schwartz, chairman; Gladys B. Jones, vice-chairman; and Dr. Ron Dulek, secretary/treasurer. Re-elected to one-year terms on the supervisory committee were Chairman Dot Martin, Sharon Conerly, and Lisa Rhiney.
Re-appointed to the Huntsville Advisory Council was April Harris. Dr. Dorla Evans joins the group for a three-year term, replacing retiring member Glenn Dasher.
