FATE (Future Alumni for Tradition and Excellence)

FATE membership gives UA students access to Alabama Credit Union

When you join FATE (Future Alumni for Tradition and Excellence), a program of the UA National Alumni Association, you may also join Alabama Credit Union. For new students, that means:
» Free checking — no minimum balance, no monthly service charge, no per-item fee
» Free VISA ATM/Check "debit" card
» Many no-fee ATMs in Tuscaloosa area (and no charge for first three visits per month to ATMs not operated by Alabama Credit Union; only $1 per visit thereafter)
» Free access to ACUiBranch®, our online account system
» Free access to Call24, our electronic phone teller system
» Free access to Credit Union Service Centers, nationwide — a great way for parents to deposit funds to kids' accounts

And, there's more. When you stop by our Ferguson Center or main office to sign up for FATE and join Alabama Credit Union, you receive a free box of gifts and discount coupons worth quite a bit more than the FATE membership fee. It's a good deal!

At Alabama Credit Union, we want to help you learn to make wise financial choices for life while you're at school.

A note to parents:
» Alabama Credit Union will not load your student up with credit card debt, such as the $10,000 horror stories we've heard about with other lenders. When they leave the University, they won't be carrying a burdensome loan balance because we strive to teach students about the prudent use of a credit card by allowing only modest credit limits, and issuing cards only to students who qualify.
» Need to monitor your student's account so that you can transfer funds when needed or ensure he or she is budgeting carefully? Our free ACUiBranch® online access system gives you 24-hour views of the student's account when you are a joint owner. Transferring funds is a snap. Apply for ACUiBranch® online.
» Need information — such as account balances or transaction history — about your student's account when you're away from a computer? As a joint owner, you may call us during business hours at 888-817-2002 or use Call24, our electronic teller system, by phoning 800-817-2255. Call24 allows only one PIN per account, so you'll need to share a PIN with your student to use the Call24 system.

Look for Alabama Credit Union representatives at 'Bama Bound orientations throughout the summer. And be sure to watch for your opportunity to win one semester's tuition, up to $1,500, if the student is a member of Alabama Credit Union and has an active checking account with us! Here's what you need to know about a student's free Crimson Checking account at Alabama Credit Union.
