You're invited to join us!

Our mission statement: The Alabama Credit Union is a progressive, member-owned financial cooperative whose mission is to improve the quality of life of its members by providing the highest level of service while building member trust and value.

Like all credit unions, management is by a Board of Directors made up of persons democratically elected from the membership, by the membership. Board members volunteer their time and effort to ensure the highest standard of services possible to members of the credit union.

Members pay less for financial products and services because the credit union is a not-for-profit organization owned by its members (we don’t have customers!). Earnings above our operating expenses and reserves are returned to members in the form of lower-cost loans, higher-yields on deposits, convenient offices and access methods, and lower (if any) fees.

Each year at our annual membership meeting, members elect volunteers to fill positions on the board of directors and supervisory committee. One member, one vote — it’s democracy in action. And once a member, always a member — even if you leave your current employer or relocate to a new area.

Our commitment to you is that we will continually find ways to add value to your credit union membership. The more you use your Alabama Credit Union, the more you’ll save... just another way we’re Better. All The Time.

Now you can! You are probably eligible to join Alabama Credit Union; consult the eligibility list. Then, call, write or e-mail to, or visit any Alabama Credit Union office to become a member. While we will be happy to obtain information from you to open your membership, we will need to obtain a copy of your photo identification and your actual signature prior to activating your account. You will also need at least $26 to open your savings account ($25 minimum balance and $1 membership fee). Welcome to Alabama Credit Union!

Members save, earn millions more each year at Alabama Credit Union
Alabama Credit Union members are over $3 million better off per year than they would be had they done their financial business elsewhere. That's the outcome of a comprehensive study comparing ACU rates and fees to those of other financial alternatives.

Key findings included:
» members save almost $1.7 million in service fees annually, including checking account charges, credit card fees, ATM charges, loan processing fees, and others.
» members earn nearly three quarters of a million dollars more on various savings accounts and certificates.
» members paid $600,000 less in loan interest over the past year on automobile loans, real estate loans, credit cards and signature loans.

While the average member saves approximately $30.00 per month, members who take advantage of most of the many services offered by Alabama Credit Union save even more. A member who uses Alabama Credit Union services exclusively can save up to $150.00 per month over using comparable services at a bank or other financial institution.
